A Newsletter of Noteworthy Property Inspections
October/November 2005

A message from Martin Grant, Owner/Chief Inspector, Noteworthy Property Inspections:

"Most of this month's newsletter is seasonal. We have included articles inspired by Halloween (pumpkin carving how-to) and the end of daylight savings time (daylight savings time - facts and dates). Every time we change our clocks we should take the opportunity to change the batteries in our smoke detectors so that they will function properly when needed. We have included an article on smoke detectors which gives guidelines on their proper installation and maintenance."
"On October 1, 2005 some new CA Energy Code (Title 24) requirements for duct sealing went into effect. Please read our article on this to understand the requirements and some of the important exemptions."
"Although it still does not require licensing in the State of California, Home Inspecting has become a recognized profession with it's own set of required skills and standards. In it's latest press release, the California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA), explains some of the features of the profession as it highlights the difference between home inspectors and general contractors."
